Need more bold colours and leopard prints in your life? Who doesn’t! Author, illustrator, and self-proclaimed dressup goblin, Molly Roberts is here to help you explore the witch’s wardrobe. You can even get started by reimagining pieces you already have at home.
In her latest YouTube video, Molly gives us Glamour Magic(k) 101 by showing us how to put together outfits and ensembles that correspond with colour magic(k) as well as the seven classical planets used in planetary magic(k). The aim of these outfits with a “witchy twist” is to power up our existing witchcraft practise. Why does this matter? Because:
“An outfit can act as a spell all by itself.” – Molly Roberts
Choosing what you wear is akin to choosing what ingredients go into a spell. Think about what kind of spell you want to cast when you get up in the morning, or go for a night out with friends, or even while hanging around the house. The most well-known examples calling for glamour magic(k) might be attending a job interview, or even a first date. Consider this: everything you do is magic(k) or it’s not. The choice is yours.
Wearing outfits designed with intention can also support your existing spell work and bring more enchantment into everyday life. By expressing yourself through fashion, you can discover your own special way of shapeshifting. By placing certain colours, textures, and symbols onto the body, you can channel their corresponding powers from the planets and surrounding universe above, as well as activate your own personal power from within.
Don’t be afraid to try new things and expand your fashion repertoire. For example, I (Scott) remember a time when I wouldn’t be caught dead mixing prints and patterns. I lacked the confidence to even try! Now, I embrace the clashy, flashy and fun elements of fashion, that I used to shy away from. My life has been pure magic(k) ever since.
Join me for the next instalment of this two-part post, and we will go through Molly’s recommendations for each classical planetary correspondence. Which look was your favourite? I would love to read your comments below!
